Umicore has committed to Net zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2035, Zero Harm in the workplace and in the value chain while minimizing our environmental impact, Zero Inequality and best-in-class governance. As a part of this strategy Umicore has developed ambitious objectives related to scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions. The scope 3 objective focuses on the raw materials needed to produce the metal-based applications Umicore has developed, and is constantly improving, to respond to the megatrends of resource scarcity and clean mobility.

What you will be doing

As Manager Scope 3 decarbonization you will join a growing central corporate team dedicated to ensure that Umicore delivers against its ESG ambitions and that sustainability continues to grow as a competitive advantage for Umicore.

You will:

Work with highly motivated and knowledgeable corporate, technical and commercial profiles from across the Group, and with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Scope 3 decarbonization program;

Manage specific aspects of Umicore’s Scope 3 decarbonization roadmap, ensuring good understanding of the objective by the BU and the suppliers, centrally reporting and contributing to developing a data management system.;

Work closely with both the wider ESG Acceleration and ESG Strategy teams and the BU’s to ensure performance, efficiency, and communication of Umicore’s progress against the Let’s Go for Zero sustainability strategy.

The scope of the work is global and company-wide, and the position is based in our Brussels, Belgium headquarters. You will report to the Director ESG Acceleration.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a passionate and purposeful colleague with:

• An enthusiastic and collaborative team player who is meticulous and driven to achieve results
• An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and organisational change experience
• Excellent analytical and administrative skills with ability to work accurately
• Good sense for prioritization while handling a wide stream of information and strong time management skills.
• Working proficiency in English, other languages a plus.
• A master’s degree-level qualification in economics, sciences, or engineering.
• 5 to 10 years experience of sustainability/GHG accounting in a business and/or corporate function .
