Over 1,700 visitors at the Umicore Family Day at the Hanau site

The company opens its factory gates to employees and their families

Celebrating together, exciting insights, and a diverse hands-on program: At this year’s Family Day at the Hanau site, Umicore invited its employees and their families to experience the workplace from a completely different perspective.

At the heart of the event were the popular guided tours through selected production and laboratory areas, which were met with great interest. They offered the opportunity to experience first-hand what research and work are carried out at the Hanau site. The program was complemented by numerous additional attractions for young and old alike, including hands-on activities, play and action areas for children, and a varied range of food and refreshments.

 “The Family Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to thank our employees for their commitment by celebrating together with their families,” explains Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, Executive Board Member of Umicore AG & Co. KG. “At the same time, it is also the result of teamwork, as many colleagues contribute to the preparations or take part in one of the many departmental tours. Today, we are showing our families what we are proud of. This day makes visible what Umicore stands for and what our employees make possible every day.”

Dr. Maximilian Bieri, acting Mayor and future Lord Mayor of the city of Hanau, also attended the Family Day. During a tour of the event grounds and in personal conversations with employees, he, too, gained new impressions of the company, which has been deeply rooted in Hanau for many decades. “Family Day impressively demonstrates the level of commitment, expertise, and sense of togetherness that come together at the Hanau site,” said Bieri. “Umicore stands for high technological competence combined with ambitious sustainability goals and a strong connection to the region. I was delighted by the open insight today, which once again showed the contribution Umicore makes here in the region.”
