The Wolfgang Industrial Park secured third place in the 2024 Responsible Care State Competition organized by the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI Hessen) with its joint campaign “365 Days of Safety in Everyday Life.”

In April 2023 saw the launch of “365 Days of Safety in Everyday Life,” in which Umicore and other companies based at the IPW, as well as a neighboring company, participated. The aim of this campaign was to raise employee awareness of the importance of occupational health and safety and to strengthen it through targeted measures such as training courses, workshops, and other health-promoting activities. The campaign was also intended to promote a sense of responsibility among employees and prevent accidents at work.

Over the twelve months, more than 800 employees took part in around 30 events and lectures as part of the “365 Days of Safety in Everyday Life” campaign. This corresponds to around one-sixth of the workforce of all participating companies.

In addition to safety training for cycling, a stumbling course, and an ADAC driving simulator, there was an opportunity to get to know the event management and plant fire department in Hanau, participate in a workshop on packaging and labeling shipping items or storing hazardous materials together, and listen to numerous lectures on topics such as “distractions in road traffic,” “Rights and obligations under hazardous goods law,” “Transporting hazardous goods in cars,” and “Burglary protection in houses and apartments,” visit the Ideas Mobile on Cycling Safety and the Info Tower in both canteens, where our occupational safety colleagues provided information on safety and health in the workplace.

“365 Days of Safety in Everyday Life was a complete success, and we would like to thank the occupational safety team, who helped raise awareness of occupational safety and health protection with this initiative, as well as all colleagues who took part in the activities and thus helped us achieve our goal of ‘zero harm,’” said Katharina Brodt, Director of Communications Germany & Site Services.
