Umicore donates 25,000 euros to nonprofit organizations
Four initiatives in Hanau are delighted to receive generous support from the materials technology and recycling group Umicore as the year comes to a close. Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, presented a total of 25,000 euros to the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village in Hanau, Sterntaler Hanau e.V., the Friends and Supporters of Lamboy Tümpelgarten, and the Lions Club Hanau Schloss Philippsruhe e.V. In doing so, the company is supporting and recognizing these organizations’ commitment to helping people in need. All four initiatives focus particularly on the needs of children and families. Part of the donated amount was collected by Umicore employees during the company’s own Christmas market.
“We greatly appreciate the sustained commitment of the four Hanau-based organizations, which we are supporting once again this year. Through their work, they help people who, for various reasons, rely on support. Sustainability is also deeply rooted in Umicore’s DNA, and that is why it is particularly important to us to make a lasting impact with our Christmas donation,” Fuchs explained during the donation handover.
The Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village in Hanau is delighted with the donation. Once again this year, Umicore’s Christmas donation will benefit Multifamily Therapy (MFT), in which families undergo therapy together. When problems or stress arise within the family, MFT does not focus solely on the children but instead addresses the entire family.
“It is only through the tireless commitment of companies and private individuals that we are able to offer special programs to the children and adolescents in our care and to develop new, differentiated educational concepts. In the area of multi-family therapy, Umicore’s annual Christmas donation contributes to consistent funding, which enables us to further adapt and expand this successful, systemic method. For this, I would like to express my sincere thanks, also on behalf of the entire Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village,” emphasizes Gundula Hoffmann, Head of Public Relations & Sponsorship, ASK Hanau.
The Sterntaler Hanau e.V. association, which receives a portion of the donation, has been supporting the children’s hospital in Hanau since 1991. Since then, it has done much to ensure that a stay there is as pleasant as possible for the children. Improved facilities at the children’s hospital, ensuring parents can stay with seriously ill children, child-friendly design of patient and treatment rooms, a playroom, and a 24-hour outpatient clinic—these are just some of the achievements of the parents’ association, in which mothers, fathers, friends, and staff of the children’s hospital are actively involved.
Umicore has now been supporting the Friends and Sponsors of Lamboy-Tümpelgarten Association for eight years. As in previous years, half of the donation was collected by Umicore employees during the company’s Christmas market and then more than doubled by Umicore. With this donation, the association fulfills Christmas wishes for underprivileged families in Hanau-Lamboy, such as urgently needed winter clothing for children.
Umicore also supports various social projects of the Lions Club Hanau Schloss Philippsruhe. Founded in September 2001, it remains the only women’s Lions club in the Hanau region to this day. The club’s social activities focus primarily on women, children, and families facing situations they cannot manage on their own or can only manage with great difficulty.
