Umicore donates 23,000 euros to nonprofit organizations in Hanau
Multi-family therapy, support for socially disadvantaged families, and measures to make hospital stays as comfortable as possible for children and their accompanying families—the scope of the four Hanau-based initiatives that Umicore is supporting again this year is extensive. Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, presented a total of 23,000 euros to the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village Hanau, Sterntaler Hanau e.V., the Friends and Supporters of Lamboy Tümpelgarten, and the Lions Club Hanau Schloss Philippsruhe e.V..
“These Hanau-based organizations help many people who, for a wide variety of reasons, rely on assistance and support. They do so in very different ways, yet always with a focus on the people themselves. That is why we have supported this commitment with great conviction for many years and are delighted by the positive impact it has on the region,” Fuchs explained during the donation ceremony.
A portion of the donation goes to Sterntaler Hanau. The association has supported the children’s hospital in Hanau since 1991 and has since contributed significantly to making a stay there as pleasant as possible for children. In the past, Sterntaler has already achieved many successes: improved facilities at the children’s hospital, ensuring parents can stay with seriously ill children, child-friendly design of patient and treatment rooms, a playroom, and a 24-hour outpatient clinic.
Umicore has been supporting the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village in Hanau since 2010. The company’s Christmas donation will once again benefit the Multifamily Therapy (MFT) program this year. This program is aimed at families who struggle to provide their children with adequate conditions for development. The goal of this form of therapy is to find concrete solutions to the families’ problems within the group.
The Friends and Supporters of Lamboy-Tümpelgarten association is also delighted to receive Umicore’s support once again—now in its eighth year. As in previous years, half of the donation was collected by Umicore employees during the company’s Christmas market and then more than doubled by Umicore. With the donation, the association fulfills Christmas wishes for disadvantaged families in Hanau-Lamboy, such as urgently needed winter clothing for children.
Umicore also supports the Lions Club Hanau Schloss Philippsruhe, which sponsors various charitable projects in the Hanau district.
