Umicore apprentices celebrate their successful graduation and job offers

Regional website Germany

A new chapter in life is now beginning for six trainees at Umicore, a company specializing in circular materials technology. Four industrial clerks, one chemical laboratory technician, and one chemical technician have passed their Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) exams and successfully completed their training. They received their certificates at a festive ceremony last Friday.

With the celebration marking the end of their training, these motivated individuals are simultaneously embarking on a new chapter in their professional futures. Umicore has offered all of them permanent positions and welcomes the six young professionals as colleagues in the diverse roles the company has available at its Hanau site. Exciting and responsible tasks in the fields of precious metal chemistry, automotive exhaust catalysts, and precious metal trading now await the newly qualified employees.

“We are proud that our trainees have completed their training so successfully and that we have now been able to welcome all six as new colleagues at Umicore,” says Sandra Müller, Training Coordinator at Umicore. “During their training, our new employees have gained exposure to exciting areas of work and expanded their expertise in their respective fields. Together, they will help shape Umicore’s future.”

With over 900 employees, Umicore in Hanau is one of the largest employers in the region. In cooperation with Evonik and the industrial park’s training center, the materials technology company has been offering high-quality training in scientific, logistical, and commercial professions for many years. In this way, Umicore aims to secure its own supply of talented young professionals and help address the shortage of skilled workers in the region.

For the training program starting on September 1, 2023, Umicore is currently seeking future trainees as chemical technicians, a warehouse logistics specialist, an industrial mechanic, and future students for the dual degree program (DH) in computer science. Interested candidates can apply online at any time via the company’s website for an apprenticeship or the dual degree program at Umicore.
