Pride Month: Making diversity visible – Umicore donates to CSD Hanau

Regional website Germany

June is Pride Month, a time celebrated worldwide to highlight diversity, equality, and the visibility of LGBTQ+ people. It serves as a reminder to stand up for respect, openness, and coexistence without exclusion.

Last week, Umicore’s Hanau site took this opportunity to meet with representatives of Christopher Street Day Hanau. During their in-person discussion, it quickly became clear just how much dedication and conviction the CSD Hanau e.V. association brings to its work promoting visibility and acceptance.

Afterward, Umicore presented a donation to CSD Hanau.

Katharina Brodt, Director of Site Services, explained: “Behind CSD Hanau are people who invest their time and energy to create a space for connection, exchange, and visibility. It is important to us to support this commitment to diversity.”

What is Christopher Street Day?

CSD has its origins in the Stonewall Riots of 1969 in New York, when queer people first rose up on a large scale against discrimination and violence. This turning point gave rise to a global movement for equal rights and social recognition.

Today, CSD is both a demonstration and a celebration—loud, colorful, open, and visible. In Hanau, too, this spirit is embraced with great passion.

Join us on June 27, 2026, for CSD Hanau

This year’s CSD Hanau will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The organizers expressly invite everyone to attend, regardless of whether they identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community or not. The CSD thrives on the fact that many different people stand together for openness, respect, and solidarity. It’s about taking a stand together.
