More than 80 Umicore employees run in the 2026 Hanau City Run for a good cause

This year, Umicore was once again represented at the Hanau City Run. More than 80 Umicore employees took part and, through their sporting commitment, supported the women's shelters in Hanau and Wächtersbach.

Early in the afternoon, the first Umicore participants set off by bus from Hanau Industrial Park to Hanau Market Square. With perfect running weather, the square gradually filled with numerous runners. After collecting their race materials and completing a short warm-up session, the starting signal was given at 5 p.m. The approximately six-kilometre route traditionally led through Hanau's city centre, lined with many spectators who provided additional motivation and contributed to the unique atmosphere of the event.

The Umicore team also delivered strong athletic performances: the first Umicore runner crossed the finish line after 22:44 minutes, while the fastest female Umicore runner completed the race in 28:18 minutes. Most importantly, however, it was the collective achievement that counted. All Umicore participants successfully completed the course and contributed to a successful event day.

This year, the Hanau City Run celebrated its 25th anniversary and reached a new record with around 4,000 participants. The proceeds from the charity event will benefit the women's shelters in Hanau and Wächtersbach. In this way, the City Run combines a shared passion for sport with an important social cause.
