765 years of service at Umicore
Employees honored for long-term service
After everyone had to forgo a proper celebration last year due to the pandemic, Umicore was finally able to celebrate its long-serving employees once again. Honoring long-serving employees has been a firmly established tradition at the materials technology and recycling group Umicore for decades. Last Friday, Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, invited all employees celebrating anniversaries to the Brockenhaus in Hanau-Lamboy. Six employees were honored for their 40th anniversary and another 21 for their 25th anniversary. Together, they represent more than 700 years of service at Umicore.
“You have all contributed to Umicore’s success story for many years,” said Dr. Bernhard Fuchs during his speech, in which he looked back on numerous highlights from the past 25 and 40 years. “This connection to Umicore makes me proud, and I would like to sincerely thank you for your long-standing dedication and commitment.” In recognition of their many years of loyalty, Dr. Fuchs presented each of the honorees with a Umicore gold bar.
Better late than never, and so on November 12, 2021, employees celebrating their work anniversaries in both 2020 and 2021 were honored. The ceremony took place in strict compliance with current health and safety regulations. Representatives from the Works Council and the Human Resources department also attended. All those present looked back with pride on what they had achieved and accomplished over the past decades, and some still remembered their first day at Umicore or its predecessor companies in great detail. There was plenty of laughter as they shared stories about their past experiences.
