Umicore and Saxonia Celebrate Employees Marking Work Anniversaries

On Friday, November 15, 2019, 14 employees of the materials technology and recycling group Umicore and the company Saxonia Technical Materials were honored for 40 or 25 years of service to the company. The employees honored at the celebration for their long-standing careers have a combined total of more than 500 years of service. Three of them celebrated their 25th anniversary, and another eleven even celebrated their 40th anniversary with the companies. The fact that more than ten people collectively have nearly half a century of professional experience at Umicore and Saxonia is something special for both companies this year.

In a speech that highlighted the numerous milestones of the past 40 years, Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, paid tribute to the long-standing commitment of the honorees. “It fills me with pride that every year we have the opportunity to thank colleagues for their decades of loyalty and their contribution to the company’s success,” said Dr. Bernhard Fuchs. “You have witnessed and helped shape many changes over the past decades, thereby contributing to Umicore’s success story. Thank you very much for that.” In recognition of their long-standing loyalty, Dr. Fuchs presented the honorees with an Umicore gold bar.

“We are delighted to once again honor the long-serving employees together this year,” emphasized Torsten Warwas, Managing Director of Saxonia Technical Materials GmbH. “Saxonia and Umicore share a long, common history. That is why we would like to give our colleagues, who have worked together for decades, another opportunity to celebrate this occasion together.”

The celebration took place at the Brockenhaus in Hanau-Lamboy with the employees’ family members, representatives of the works council, the human resources departments, and the executive boards of both companies. Many of the honorees reminisced about their first day on the job 40 or 25 years ago and looked back with pride on their accomplishments. Everyone has their own unique story connecting them to Umicore or Saxonia.
