2022 Hanau City Run: Umicore Employees Join Forces to Take a Stand Against Violence Against Women

On September 16, 2022, the big day finally arrived. A large group of Umicore employees took a bus to downtown Hanau to participate in this year’s Hanau City Run.

As in previous years, the town square served as the meeting point for all runners.  After the Hanau City Run had been held in a decentralized and virtual format for the past two years, the approximately 1,840 participants could hardly wait for the starting gun, which went off right on time at 5 p.m.

In changeable weather, the six-kilometer course through the city center was run or walked. Everyone shared the goal of taking a stand together against violence against women. It didn’t take long for the first runners to reach the finish line! In addition to many personal bests, the Umicore team was awarded 4th place in the “Largest Team” category.

As in the past eleven years, the proceeds from the entry fees will go to the women’s shelters in the Main-Kinzig district in Hanau and Wächtersbach. As one of the main sponsors of this charity event, Umicore is donating 10,000 euros to the Hanau City Run for the twelfth time, which will also support the women’s shelters in the Main-Kinzig district in Hanau and Wächtersbach.
