What you will be doing
Are you ready for an exciting new opportunity? We're looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team and help us expand our Umicore NBI Battery landscape for Solid State Battery technology.
As the Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing, and rolling out new business opportunities within the battery industry, with the goal of generating billion-dollar revenues within a 10-year timeframe. To achieve this, you'll need to handle information collection, market prospection, and build a commercial network.
You'll work closely with the SIA team to identify and follow market trends and evaluate customer potential. You'll also develop a market introduction plan and monitor progress regularly, coordinating with the relevant Business Unit and NBI collaborators.
As a business development expert, you'll propose value-creating strategies for new battery business opportunities, elaborate on business models, and develop associated plans for future products and solutions platforms. You'll educate all relevant Umicore stakeholders on the business environment of the target market segments and supervise department business innovation KPIs.
You'll work with technology teams in NBI and CRD, business and technology teams in the various BU's, and be the driving force of this new business development effort. The geographic scope is worldwide, with a strong focus on EU and NA prospects.

Who we are looking for
- master's degree in science (chemistry, physics, engineering...) or business
- 5 years of working experience in the battery value chain.
- 3-5 years of business development or commercial experience
- Proven track record to build up business opportunities in a technology-driven environment.
- We're looking for someone with excellent analytical and conceptual skills, good project and program management experience, and a strong understanding of technology and innovation management.
- Experience in the battery world, cell making, electrical vehicles is a strong plus
- Proficiency in English is a must, and German or French language skills are a plus.
