Here, you can read a few descriptions of professions that work together in our versatile industry in an interdisciplinary manner. Together, we are Umicore!

Test bench engineer (m/f/d)

One of our test bench engineers for example is responsible for engine and vehicle test benches for exhaust gas catalysts. He plans and coordinates the tests as well as implements and subsequently evaluates them. A close contact with the customer is very important in this job, because a Umicore test bench engineer works together with them to develop suitable solutions for the testing of complex exhaust gas aftertreatment systems. The constant optimization of procedures and tests also forms an integral part of the work of an engineer, as does the understanding of a broad range of subjects - from test bench technology to motor applications or exhaust aftertreatment systems. Being able to work independently and having a proactive attitude is an advantage, as are communication and team skills, in order to jointly develop solutions. The next career step for a Umicore test bench engineer, for example, may be the position of "Senior Test Bench Engineer" with staff responsibility, or a switch to application technology where the focus is on the products and their improvement.

Financial controller (m/f/d)

A good example of what a financial controller does works in the Precious Metals Management Division. Since this area handles precious metals, good financial controlling is essential. Guaranteeing the correct and timely settlement of all business matters is thus the most important thing. In addition, legal and tax regulations in regard to import and export provisions must be observed. The creation of monthly reports, forecasts and budgets, however, is among the tasks of a financial controller, who must demonstrate a high analytical understanding. Here, the most important key figures are compiled and evaluated and recommendations for actions are made that affect the actions of the division across all locations.

Process engineer (m/f/d)

Process engineers are in demand in the chemical industry for the handling of chemical processes, for example, whenever a raw material becomes an intermediate or end product. In the process, process engineers work together with many production and quality assurance/control departments, as well as Research & Development. The everyday work of one of our process engineers is extremely varied - depending on the project on which she is currently working. In the process, she becomes deeply involved in the planning of the project and testing and exchanges information worldwide with production and research colleagues. She also consults external institutions. In addition, her scope of responsibilities includes the support of the design and manufacturing of equipment, as well as production tests.
