Sporting commitment for a good cause: Hanau City Run 2024

Regional website Germany

Last Friday, it was that time again. Eighty Umicore employees set off full of motivation to take part in this year's city run through Hanau city center. For most of the runners, the event began at 3:30 p.m. with a joint bus trip from IPW to Hanau's market square.

With bright sunshine and blue skies, the mood was excellent as race numbers were handed out at Café Central and final preparations were made. To fuel up before the run, everyone was given fruit, granola bars, and drinks to ensure they were optimally prepared for the race.

After a short but energetic warm-up program and the obligatory team photo, the starting signal for the six-kilometer run through downtown Hanau was given at 5:00 p.m. sharp.

A record for the Hanau City Run: over 3,500 participants ran for a good cause on this day, as the 2024 Hanau City Run was once again dedicated to the fight against violence against women. All proceeds from the run will go to women's shelters in Hanau and Wächtersbach – an initiative that combines sporting commitment with social engagement.

All Umicore runners successfully completed the course, sending a strong message against violence against women as a team.
