World Cleanup Day 2023: Umicore employees set an example for a clean environment

Every year in September, World Cleanup Day takes place. This is a campaign that brings people together around the world to clean up and set an example for a clean environment. Umicore also participates in this global initiative every year.

On the afternoon of September 21, 2023, the time had come. A team consisting of Umicore colleagues and Evonik employees met to clean up the area around the Wolfgang Industrial Park (IPW).

In just over two hours, 35 volunteers collected more than ten bags of trash. In addition to countless bottles, they also found an old bicycle, metal parts, and plasterboard. Considering the size of the area that was cleaned up, this result is shocking in terms of environmental pollution and at the same time shows how important such an initiative is.

The collection campaign was supported by the city of Hanau, which provided trash tongs, trash bags, and gloves and took care of the removal and disposal of the collected waste.
