Umicore kicks off the holiday season with a traditional Christmas market
It’s that time of year again—the holiday season has begun. This is traditionally when Umicore, the circular materials technology company, opens the doors to its Christmas market, organized by colleagues for colleagues. More than 200 employees gathered in the festively decorated event hall at Industriepark Wolfgang and kicked off the Advent season together with various treats, a wide array of vendor booths, and donations to a good cause..
As is tradition, Umicore invites all employees in Hanau to a communal lunch at the company’s Christmas market on the Friday before the first Sunday of Advent. In the festive atmosphere, employees could help themselves to the soup buffet and then browse the colorful and diverse offerings at the 16 vendor booths. Whether it was handmade Advent wreaths, personalized Christmas ornaments, honey specialties, cosmetics, or treats like fresh waffles, Kaiserschmarrn, and non-alcoholic cocktails, there was something for everyone.
Raising Funds for a Good Cause
All visitors could also make a donation at the numerous market stalls to the Hanau-based association “Friends and Supporters of Lamboy Tümpelgarten.” In addition, a fundraising campaign was launched via the “Betterplace” platform, allowing all employees who couldn’t attend the Christmas market to donate as well. In total, nearly 2,500 euros were raised. The local association “Friends and Supporters of Lamboy Tümpelgarten” uses these funds to support people in need in Hanau.
