Umicore employees celebrate over 400 years of service
At a long-service anniversary celebration, 15 Umicore employees celebrated their service anniversaries together with their families. Thirteen of them have been with the company for 25 years, and two for as long as 40 years. “You, as employees, but also we as a company, can be very proud of your long service,” said Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, as he welcomed the honorees. “Today’s ceremony is an expression of our appreciation for your decades of dedication—thank you very much for your commitment!”
In his speech, Fuchs looked back on the highlights of the past 40 years and thanked the colleagues who have witnessed and helped shape the company’s success story, as well as numerous changes. Long-serving and dedicated employees have strengthened the company and supported it in delivering consistent performance even in times of ever-faster-changing economic and technological conditions, Fuchs said.
In recognition of their dedication, the combined nearly half-millennium of service of all the honorees was celebrated in a festive setting, and they each received a gold bar from Umicore. The honorees, their families, management, and the works council were equally delighted by the collective creative energy gathered in the hall. Those present reminisced about the old days and exchanged anecdotes. "I still remember my first day at the company well and how exciting everything was. My supervisor and I first went around introducing me to everyone, and I got to know my new colleagues back then in a pre-Christmas atmosphere. Of course, a lot has changed in the meantime, but the most important things—the enjoyment of the work and the camaraderie among colleagues—have remained the same. I’m delighted to be able to celebrate here today with other long-serving employees and my wife," explains Andreas Koffler, who joined the company on December 2, 1992, after completing his studies in electrical engineering.
