Umicore celebrates 20th anniversary at its Hanau site
On the evening of September 28, 2023, the circular materials technology group Umicore celebrated its 20th anniversary at its Hanau site with an anniversary event. Together with guests from politics and partner companies, as well as cooperation partners from the city of Hanau and local initiatives, the company looked back on two decades of success but also constant change. The focus was on the commitment of the employees and the good cooperation with various partners in the region.
The theme of the festive evening was “Always on the move.” Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, took those present on a journey into the past and paid tribute to the most significant milestones achieved over the last two decades. This review showed the impressive development and continuous growth of the company, whose strength lies not only in adapting to changing conditions, but also in recognizing important developments—such as the urgently needed circular economy and clean mobility—at an early stage and creating technological innovations for them.
“Together, we have achieved a great deal over the past 20 years and are proud of what we have accomplished. At the same time, we are already looking forward to the challenges ahead with great anticipation,” said Fuchs. “We owe our success to our dedicated employees and our strong partnerships within the industry and in the region. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and excellent cooperation.”
Mayor Claus Kaminsky was also a guest at the event and in his speech he particularly emphasized the company's long-term commitment to the region and its cooperation with Umicore: "Umicore fulfills its responsibility to our region on many levels. I would therefore like to express my sincere thanks to you, Dr. Fuchs, your colleagues, and your employees for your contributions to the further development of our city and our active partnership! I firmly believe that together we will overcome the challenges ahead."
€20,000 for StrassenEngel and the Hanau Children's and Youth Hospice
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of a donation totaling €20,000 to local initiatives: 10,000 euros were presented to StraßenEngel e.V. and 10,000 euros to the children's and youth hospice in Hanau. "We have been working with various regional initiatives that help people in need for many years, because we are very grateful for this commitment. We would like to take our anniversary as an opportunity to support StrassenEngel e.V., an organization that works tirelessly for homeless people and those affected by poverty in old age, and the children's and youth hospice, which accompanies children, young people, and their families in the most difficult times. We hope that this will make a small contribution to the great and immensely important work of these two organizations," Fuchs said at the end of the evening.
