Umicore apprentices complete their apprenticeship with excellent results

Three top grades and a special premiere

At the end of January, four Umicore apprentices and students successfully completed their apprenticeships or studies. On February 9, 2026, Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of Umicore AG & Co. KG, congratulated them personally during a festive ceremony and presented them with their diplomas.

The young professionals achieved impressive results: Three graduates received a grade of 1, the top grade, and were awarded a gold bar by Umicore in recognition of their outstanding performance.

In September 2025, a dual student in the field of IT completed his bachelor's degree with a grade of 1.9 and was hired by Umicore. Two industrial clerks, both of whom achieved the top grade of 1, are now beginning their professional careers at regional partner companies. A chemical technician finished his apprenticeship with a grade of 2 and continued his career at Umicore.

Personal memories of the start of apprenticeship

For two graduates, this year's graduation was especially significant: They were part of the 2023 apprenticeship cohort that participated in the newly introduced Starter Day for the first time.

On this first day of apprenticeship, the new apprentices reflected on their expectations, anticipation, and potential challenges. They collected these personal thoughts in sealed envelopes and kept them safe.

Upon successfully completing their apprenticeship, the graduates received their envelopes back, along with a personal letter from Umicore's apprenticeship supervisors. This small gesture brought back memories of the apprentices' start at Umicore and highlighted their personal development over the past few years.
