Umicore and Evonik join forces for World Cleanup Day 2025 in Hanau

Every year, millions of people around the globe take part in World Cleanup Day, collecting waste and sending a strong signal for environmental and climate protection. Once again this year, employees from Umicore and Evonik at the Hanau site joined the initiative.

On Thursday afternoon, numerous colleagues put on gloves and picked up litter around the Industrial Park Wolfgang (IPW). The cleanup kicked off at 4 p.m. Working in small teams, participants collected cigarette butts, glass and plastic bottles, and metal parts, filling several bags.

This initiative demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration. The results also underscore the importance of continuing to raise awareness about responsible waste management. As in previous years, the City of Hanau supported the activity by providing materials as well as taking care of collection and proper disposal of the waste.

The commitment of Umicore and Evonik employees underlines both companies’ dedication to sustainability and social responsibility. Initiatives like this are not only practical environmental protection but also an invitation for others to take action themselves, because every individual contribution helps make our world a cleaner place.
