Small contributions with a big impact

For the eighth consecutive year, numerous employees of the materials technology and recycling group Umicore have voluntarily donated the cents from their paychecks to a charitable cause in the region. By each individual donating just a few cents a month—and with the company matching this amount—a total of 2,500 euros was raised and donated to the Hanauer Tafel.

The collected spare change is donated annually to charitable organizations and institutions in Hanau and the surrounding area. This year, Umicore’s works council chose the Hanauer Tafel. The spare change campaign emphasizes collective giving and conveys the message that small contributions from many individuals can have a significant impact when combined.

“We find it absolutely remarkable and are equally impressed by what Ms. Geier-Neugebauer and her team accomplish day after day with dedication and sheer perseverance. Helping people in need in any kind of emergency deserves great recognition! We are delighted to be able to support the Hanauer Tafel with our ‘Restcent’ donation this year,” said the works council representatives during the donation handover.

Note: At the end of March, works council members Ralf Müller and Andreas Kinkal visited the Hanauer Tafel in compliance with current regulations and, on behalf of the Umicore workforce, presented the donation check in the amount of 2,500 euros to the Tafel’s director, Annette Geier-Neugebauer.
